Buenos Aires, March 29 (NA) – Leonardo Szuchet will assume this week as the new Undersecretary of Human Rights in replacement of Joaquín Mogaburu, who held the position until now and was one of the last officials to hold a significant post in the Ministry of Justice during the administration of the resigned Mariano Cúneo Libarona. Mogaburu will leave his post in the coming hours after just three months in the role, having assumed office on December 10 to replace former judge Alberto Baños. According to various official sources, it is expected that Szuchet will take office next Wednesday. The new head of the Undersecretariat is a criminal lawyer and held a position in that government area during the presidency of Mauricio Macri. This way, the changes introduced by Mahiques after Cúneo Libarona's resignation would be completed. Mogaburu was a trusted official of the former Secretary of Justice, Sebastián Amerio, who in turn reported within the ruling party lines to advisor Santiago Caputo. Szuchet served in the Macri government as Chief of Staff for then-Secretary of Human Rights Claudio Abruj, who is currently the head of the National Institute of Indigenous Affairs. In the context of these changes, it has not yet been confirmed if the agency's headquarters will be moved. It currently operates on the former ESMA site, and according to reports, it would move to a building in the San Telmo neighborhood. The objective was to relocate the undersecretariat to Cochabamba 54, where the dissolved Ministry of Women, created during Alberto Fernández's time and closed shortly after Javier Milei took office, functioned until early 2020.
